There they are surprised and captured by the master of the cave, the one-eyed cyclops Polyphemus. In order to escape, Ulysses devises a ruse, he gets Polyphemus drunk with wine and stabbs out his only eye. Full of anger, the blinded giant sits down in front of the cave entrance to prevent the Greeks from escaping. But Ulysses and his friends quickly attach themselves to the sheep running out of the cave and are so able to outwit Polyphemus. The play set consists of Ulysses with sword, cyclops Polyphemus and a sheep.
