Aphrodite

History

Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty and belongs to the twelve Olympic Gods. She is married to the god of fire and the blacksmith's art of Hephaestus, but has many other loves with other gods and also with humans. According to the legend Aphrodite starts the Trojan War. In a contest with Hera and Athena to see which of them is the most beautiful, the Trojan king's son Paris decides in favour of Aphrodite. As a reward, she had promised him the most beautiful woman in the world. Paris then kidnapped the beautiful Helen and brought her to Troy, the beginning of the Trojan War. Set contains goddess Aphrodite with golden mirror, rose and swan, as well as a column with an inscription and a shell.
